To My Valued Patients,

I am writing to share an exciting upcoming development!  I have heard from several of you that it is difficult to get appointments with me.  I share this concern, and I realize there is less continuity of care when you see multiple medical providers, rather than the one or two who know you best.  In order to address this need, I will start working with a Physician’s Assistant (PA-C) this January.  

Let me tell you more about the incredible Physician’s Assistant I am so fortunate to partner with.  I have known Elizabeth McCrank for the past three years.  She is an exceptional clinician, and well known to North Sound Family Medicine.  Ms. McCrank currently cares for North Sound’s nursing home patients, and works at the Family Care Network Urgent Care Center.   She has a positive energy, an excellent fund of knowledge, and a great bedside manner.  Importantly, she and I share similar medical philosophies and patient care strategies.  As her supervising physician, I will continually oversee her care, and we will meet regularly to discuss complex patient care issues.  

My goal is to improve appointment availability and continuity of care.  I hope to create a feeling of your own “Medical Home” within North Sound Family Medicine, and the larger Family Care Network.  A “Medical Home” is a place where your physician, nurse, and physician’s assistant all know you, and where you can get care when you need it.  Physician Assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, perform procedures, write prescriptions, and submit referrals.  Having a Physician’s Assistant on your healthcare team will increase access to one consistent medical provider on the days that I am not in clinic.  We will initially be available to you in clinic Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and every other Friday.  By April, 2012, we will also be available on Mondays.
