Susan was born in Louisville, Kentucky, grew up and lived in the Northeast, North Dakota and New Mexico before relocating to the Northwest in 1979. Susan started at North Sound Family Medicine part-time in the fall of 1988, and full-time in April 1991.
Her training includes basic nursing education in Louisville, Kentucky. She then obtained education for Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife at Frontier Nursing Services (FNS), graduating in 1979. FNS is the oldest school of nurse midwifery in the United States, and also serves as a model of rural health care for the USA and developing nations.
Susan enjoyed delivering babies for thirteen and a half years. She had nurse-midwifery and newborn priveledges at Skagit Valley Hospital, and more recently St Joseph's Hospital. She now focuses on the office family practice with a special interest in women's health.
Her hobbies include tennis, hiking, sewing, gardening, piano, the spanish language, and new for her, learning to play bridge.
Susan’s family includes her husband, four sons and their families, who reside in Holland, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Kentucky.
