Ashlee M. Walls, MD

After growing up in rural northern California, I attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a degree in psychology. I met my husband in college during a semester abroad in Dublin, Ireland. We volunteered for a year at an orphanage in Zambia before I entered Dartmouth Medical School. I completed my residency at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, then became a family physician at the Indian Health Services hospital in New Mexico, living and working on the Navajo Nation. While there, I worked with the local domestic violence shelter, organized continuing education on childbirth, and was part of the child protection team. I am board certified in family medicine and my practice includes obstetrics, women’s health and inpatient medicine.

I enjoy taking care of families and getting to know each person’s history. Everyone has a unique story and I feel privileged as a family physician to be part of so many lives. I have learned that knowing the whole story, including community and social factors, often allows a physician to get to the root of the medical problem and ultimately improve health.

My husband and I love the Pacific Northwest and always wanted to live in a town like Bellingham. In my free time I enjoy traveling, hiking, camping and generally adventuring with my family, which includes three young children. If I have time to myself, I enjoy running, cycling, Zumba, yoga and cooking. We are looking forward to becoming part of this community and hopefully contributing in a positive way.
