Marcy Shapley, PA-C
I was born and raised in Michigan. Although the four seasons were exhilarating, after getting my undergraduate degree at Michigan State University I left for the Washington state mountains and ocean. A research position in the UW Department of Medicine solidified my interest in medicine. I graduated from the physician assistant program at Oregon Health and Sciences University in 1998, and for the last 20 years I’ve been working in primary care in the Skagit Valley.
I thoroughly love being a PA. I learn something new every day; this includes medical knowledge as well as insight and wisdom from patients. Physician assistants are part of a team of providers; in one practice, patients benefit from multiple perspectives, wide experiences, many specialties, and decades of knowledge. My goal is to give patients and families the tools they need to make informed decisions and feel cared for in health and illness.
When not working, I prefer to be outside: trail running, skiing, sailing, biking, or just walking my dog on the beach. I’m on the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants board of directors, working on state and national practice issues. My husband and I love spending time with family and friends and travelling locally and internationally when life allows it.
