Tyler F. Nelson, MD
I grew up in the Chicago area where I attended North Park University and received a degree in biology. I worked for two years in special education prior to attending Loyola University for medical school. I then moved to Portland to complete my residency at Providence Oregon Family Medicine, where I was chief resident.
I pursued a career in family medicine because of the diverse skill set that comes with caring for patients of all ages with wide ranging conditions. I believe the relationship that develops between patient and physician over time is the greatest privilege in medicine. It is a joy to care for individuals and families throughout life’s many stages. I have particular interest in preventive medicine and office-based procedures. I take pride in being a lifelong learner.
I developed a love for the Pacific Northwest as a child during summers spent on Vashon Island with my family. My spouse and I are excited to make Bellingham our home, where we enjoy long walks with our son and Westie dog. In my spare time, I enjoy running, biking, fly fishing, skiing, reading, and listening to NPR.
