Lisa M. Van Hofwegen, MD

I received my medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, and afterward completed my residency in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa. During my medical training, I took some time off to do public health research and work with a mission organization doing public health work in the rain forests of Peru.

I believe the human body was wonderfully designed and our physical bodies, minds, and spirits are connected as a whole.  To treat one, all parts must be considered.  Each person is unique and valuable; I strive to keep those truths at the center of each patient interaction.  I love seeing families, patients of all ages, and the variety of issues that are part of family medicine.

In addition to being a family doctor, I am a wife and mother of three terrific and active kids.  I enjoy reading, being outdoors, and cooking.  My family loves living in Bellingham and we feel blessed to be a part of this community.
