Information

Sports medicine specializes in the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and medical issues related to exercise or sports.  A sports medicine specialist is a physician with significant additional training in both the treatment and prevention of illness and injury. At Family Care Network Sports Medicine, our goal is to maximize function and minimize disability and time away from sports, work, or school.

A common question about sports medicine is, "Does a sports medicine doctor only treat competitive athletes?" The answer is, "no"!

Sports medicine is ideal for the non-athlete as well, and is an excellent place to start for individuals who would like to become active or begin an exercise program. For the “weekend warrior” who experiences an injury, the same expertise used for the competitive athlete can be applied to help anyone return to full function as soon as possible.

After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Radakovich can maximize non-operative treatment options, guide appropriate referrals to physical and occupational therapists, and, when necessary, expedite referral to an orthopedic or sports surgeon.

Office policies:

  • Cancellations: A missed appointment is a missed opportunity for another patient to receive care that they need. We ask that you call us at least 24 hours in advance to cancel any appointment, unless an emergency occurs. If you miss your appointment without notification, you may be assessed a $25.00 no show fee.
  • Insurance: Family Care Network is contracted with a variety of insurance plans. Please call our office to verify that we are contracted with your plan.
  • Emergencies: All emergencies will be seen as a priority and will be treated promptly. For a life-threatening emergency that requires prompt attention in an Emergency Room, call 911 for assistance or go directly to the hospital. Infrequently, an emergency may come up which requires us to interrupt an office visit to discuss ongoing patient care with our staff, other physicians and/or the hospital staff. We appreciate your understanding, and we will try to keep the interruptions to a minimum.
  • Prescription Refills: Contact your pharmacy first for all medication refills and renewals. We require three (3) business days to complete the request. We will be happy to fax a refill request to your mail-order pharmacy if they fax us a request. We are not able to call your mail-order pharmacy on your behalf or accept information from you to contact your mail-order pharmacy.

Family Care Network Sports Medicine is open to FCN and non-FCN patients. We accept self-referrals, however some insurance plans may require a physician referral for the visit to be a covered benefit. Please check with your insurance provider for more information.

Family Care Network is a physician-owned company that has a financial interest in the ancillary services provided in our facilities, such as clinical lab services, diagnostic testing, or specialty care. You have the option to use an alternate facility for services ordered, and will not be treated differently if you choose to do so. We will provide a list of appropriate alternate facilities if you want to receive services elsewhere.
