Limited COVID-19 testing at Family Care Network

Mar 19, 2020

As the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus continues to rise, many of our patients are anxious to get tested. Unfortunately, Family Care Network still has a very limited amount of COVID-19 testing supplies due to a national shortage.

Because of our extremely limited supplies, at this time:

  • Testing is ONLY by appointment
  • Testing is ONLY for patients with a lab order from an FCN provider

If you are experiening symptoms, please call your provider first. They will evaluate your symptoms to determine whether COVID-19 testing is appropriate. In general, it is not recommended to test people who don’t have symptoms unless they have been in close contact of a confirmed case (within about 6 feet).

We currently prioritize testing for FCN patients in certain high-risk groups with fever, cough or suspected exposure, according to Whatcom County Health Department recommendations. Testing is done at one of our clinics or at a centralized site we created in Bellingham. The centralized site allows us to safely test patients while reducing the risk of exposure in our clinics.

We are actively working to increase our supplies and hope to expand testing if more supplies become avaialble. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we all work through this very difficult situation.
